Lots of smiling faces ready to learn about the latest research

On January 8, 2016, the Crop Physiology Laboratory hosted about two-dozen farmers from Illinois and Indiana. During this day- long Summit, they learned about much of the latest research going on in Dr. Below’s program for improving growth and yield of both corn and soybean crops.

The presentations were ordered roughly around the topics of the Seven Wonders of the Corn Yield World and the Six Secrets of Soybean Success.

Corn Management

A. The Quest for High Yield Corn- introduction (including Weather, Nitrogen) .pdf

B. All Hybrids Are Not Created Equal .pdf

C. Alleviating the Continuous Corn Yield Penalty with Crop Management (includes previous crop and tillage) .pdf

D. Plant Population – what’s best? .pdf

E. Plant Growth Regulators .pdf

F. Matching Fertility to Need .pdf

G. Fertilizer Placement- feed the plant, not the soil .pdf

H. High- Input Management- what’s the value- N, P, K, Population, Fungicide, or Row Spacing? .pdf

I. Subsurface Fertigation- optimizing nutrient use efficiency .pdf

J. Management Considerations, Conclusions, Acknowledgements .pdf
